CLINTON — Carl R. Beard, 91, of Clinton, died at 9:48 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute. He was born Feb. 20, 1917, in Clinton to Ordie Beard and Lillie Chambers Beard. He had worked for U.S. Steel, was former manager for the St. Bernice and Dana Fertilizer plants. and was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Doris Igo Beard; one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Christa Beard of Clinton; two sisters, Marjorie Randall of Chrisman, Ill., and Clara Belle and Mish Mishler of Dana; six grandchildren, Chris and Debbie Beard of Clinton, Michael and Cheryl Beard of Middle River, Md., Jason and Jennifer Myers of Hillsdale, April and Jason Hay of Terre Haute, Eric Beard of Indianapolis, and Jack Gates of Evansville; six great-grandchildren; and special friend, Dennis Jones of Clinton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rex Beard; brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Hattie Beard; and brother-in-law, Max Randall.
He was a member of Bono Methodist Church.
Services are 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Frist Funeral Home, 458 Blackman, St. Cremation has been chosen with burial to take place at a later date. Visitation is 4 p.m. until services Wednesday.
