George was born September 11, 1922, in Centerville, Iowa, to Fred and Agnes (Peacock) White. He was united in marriage to his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Todd, on April 25, 1946, in Holton, Kan. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1943-46.
For 47 years George was employed at Red Jacket Pumps, retiring as the Director of Purchasing & Traffic.
George was a charter member of the North Scott Rotary Club, a former member and elder at Newcomb Presbytery Church, a member of the QC Purchasing Association and the American Legion Post 26, Davenport. He was also a former board member of the Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency, Ridgecrest Retirement Village and the Davenport School Board.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte; daughter, Karen and Robert Shirk, Ames, Iowa; son, Rodney and Linda White, Davenport; and grandchildren Angie Shirk, Ames, and Todd Shirk, Urbandale, Iowa.
