British Prime Minister, 4th Duke of Devonshire. He was born at Hardwick Hall, Ault Hucknall Parish, Derbyshire, England, the seat for generations of the Cavendish family. He became a prominent Whig politician, serving as Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, and from November 1756 to May 1757, as Prime Minister of England.
