She was born Jan. 30, 1916 in Rock Island, Illinois the daughter of Peter and Anna M. Johnson Verdegum. Ethel and Jess were active members of Granger Christian Church from the time of its beginning where Ethel served from time to time as Church organist.
She is survived by her two children Delores Cowan (Vincent P.) Mungillo and James L. (Enid) Cowan; grandchildren Vincent Randall Mungillo, Theresa Mungillo Manchester, Mark Allan Mungillo; great-grandchildren Nicholas, Peter and William Manchester, Zane, Micah, Logan and Jack Mungillo.
Ethel is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years Jesse H. Cowan, sisters Louella Hartwick, Myrtle Barton, brothers Clifford Verdegum and Kenneth Verdegum.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2001, 2 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, where friends and family may call one hour prior to the services.
