After surviving the Battle of Antietam, Pvt Homan died during enlistment.

Once thought to be an unknown in Alexandria National Cemetery, an appropriate location for a Jan 1863 death at Fairfax Station, Chas F Faust's compilation at Huntingdon County Historical Society provides:

"125D Homan,Thos. Birmingham, Warriors Mark Twp, east plot"
Company D, 125th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry.
