Sarah Elizabeth Corson was born in Williamsport, PA, on 12 Jan 1844. Was married to Thomas Port on 16 Jan 1862. To Mr and Mrs Port four children were born:

Mrs [Carrie] H.B. Scannell of Springfield, MA
Mrs [Harriet Adele] L. Christie of Sacramento, CA
Frank C. Port of Sacramento, CA
Ray W. Port last heard from when on his way to California in 1912

These, with a sister of Mrs Port, Mrs E. Smith, of Wisconsin Veterans Home, are left to mourn the passing of a loving mother and a faithful sister.

Mrs Port became a member of the Wisconsin Veterans Home on 10 Oct 1913, coming from Massachusetts where she had resided for many years.

She passed away at the Home hospital in the early morning of Tuesday, 13 Sep 1921, at the age of 77 years, 8 months, and one day.

Mrs Port was a very intelligent lady, and was greatly loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held in the Home Chapel, Thursday, 15 Sept, Rev E.B. Earle officiating.

The distance and other circumstances made it impossible for any of the children to be present. Friends present from out of camp were Mrs Flora Boutwell of Waupaca, Mrs L.B. Larsen of Marion, WI, and Mrs E.L. Ross of Stevens Point.
