Mrs. Genshaw was a homemaker for many years, while raising her five children. She later managed and owned, along with her husband, a Western Apparel Store in Lake Orion, Michigan. She also helped manage a dry cleaning store in Rochester, Michigan. Mrs. Genshaw, in her later years, would return to school to study nursing and obtained an LPN Certificate.
