U.S.M.C.R. veteran. In June of 1945, William was wounded on Peleliu Island, in the south Pacific region. He was sent home for recovery and died at the old Mt. Alto Veterans Hospital in Washington, D.C. It is unknown what if any medals he was awarded but he apparently was promoted posthumously to Sgt. He had been a Marine a little over 2 years and had been sent overseas in June of 1944. As a civilian, he had been a butcher.
