My dog Winky was born in 1980.He was the runt of the litter. We went to the pound on Ft Hood,Tx and found him.He was black and white and was a what they call a shepherd dog,a dog that herds the sheep. He was such a good watch dog to.If anyone was near our house he would let you know. I had so much fun with him, its sounds crazy but we use to play hide and seek, or should I say I would hide and he would fine me. He slept under my bed and at 6am every morning would put his head on my bed to let me know he had to go out.
Winky ended up with epilepsy. They really could not do much for him. We were being sent to Germany and I could not take him with us.I found him a good family and they promised they would take care of him.I went to see him before we left and the family I gave him to was going to give him to the ladys mother, but she decided to keep him because he was such a good watch dog,so she gave her mother the German Shepherd she had. I missed him so much. Not only was he our family pet,he was a wonderful companion to me while my children were at school. He was smart. He knew when the kids were coming home from school, about a half hour before they walked in the door, he would watch the back door waiting for them.He was so funny when I ran the vaccum cleaner, he would chase after it and try to bite it,also he did not like moths.I would point up to the ceiling and say a moth,no matter what time of the year it was, he would go crazy. It was funny. One time he was bad and so I said go to your room and he would run in the bedroom and go under the bed,and then I would sit in a chair where I could see the hallway and did you know he was like sneaking on his belly down the hallway. It was so funny, how could you punish him.Well I know he has to be gone by now ,and one day I will see him again and we can play hide a seek once more.
The reason he was called Winky is because I swear that when I looked at him he winked at me.
