BARROM On July 19, 2002, Jetty Ruth (Staples) Barrom, whom some knew as Janet Barrom, passed away at OSU East Medical Center at age 69. She joined her parents Rufus and Ethel Staples, her brothers Melvan, Theolious, Andrew and David Staples and her sisters Thelma Staples Johnson, Ethelyn Staples Harrat, Bertha Mae Staples and Pauline Staples Jenkins, already sleeping in the arms of Jesus. Jetty and all of her family members at rest will live forever in the hearts of her sister, Dolly Mae Staples Morris; her nieces, nephews, cousins and the surviving members of the Staples, Cistrunk and Lipsey families from which she descended. Jetty was honorably discharged from the Women's Army Corps (WACS) in 1953 trained as a nurse. Her last years of nursing were at the Mohun Healthcare Center at Ohio Dominican College caring for the elder nuns so near and dear to her heart. Funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, July 25 in the Chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St. Mrs. Barrom will lie in state Thursday after 9 a.m. at the mortuary with family visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Elder Charles D. Morris will officiate. Her final resting place will be Green Lawn Cemetery. May she rest in peace until we all meet again when the Lord cracks the sky.
