A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he was loved and adored by his family. He was an extraordinary man. He was a Christian man, honest, fair and a handshake was as good as your word. He was looking forward to being with his son, Jake in heaven. He had a nickname for every one of his children and grandchildren. You were special if you weren't one of his children and he gave you a nickname that meant he loved you. He was an avid hunter and had a general love of the outdoors. He worked for ETMF and ABF as a driver for forty-two years. He was a member of Victory Baptist Church, the Jefferson Masonic Lodge #38 for over fifty years.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Faye Copeland, daughters Brenda Fort, Debbie Woodruff & husband Wayne, and DeeDee Turner & husband Eddie, all of Marshall, nine grandchildren, Ticia Brown, Rachea Cunningham, Amanda Berry, Shanna Bazaar, Michael Woodruff, Jcee Carothers, Scott Woodruff, Eleeza Johnson, and Tayelar Turner, and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters Faye Williams of Marshall, Betty Moore of Karnack, and Judy Benes of San Angelo, and brothers Jerry Copeland of San Angelo, and J.R. Copeland of Woodlawn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, J.C. Copeland, Jr.

He never met a stranger and …"How is he doing now?... "Tolerably well for a poor ole man."
