Betty was born December 2, 1942 in Tyler, Minnesota to Donald and Helen (Paulson) Guida. She graduated from Tyler High School then Mankato State College in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Following graduation she taught in Slayton for three years and in Cambridge for a short time. On April 9, 1966 Betty and Allan Carlson were married in Tyler. They moved to Lewiston in 1971, where she has been an organist, piano teacher, Early Childhood Family Education Teacher, and a teachers assistant. She was the accompanist for the Lewiston singing group 'Sometimes Eight', was involved in the Lewiston Church of the Brethren where she played the piano and organ for many years and was active in the American Field Service of Lewiston.
Survivors include her husband Allan; two sons, Chad (Karen McCaustlin) Carlson of Minneapolis and Kirk (Lisa) Carlson of Mankato; her mother Helen Guida of Tyler; two brothers, Dan (Sandy) Guida of Red Wing and David (Kathy) Guida of Tyler; three sisters, Mavis (Ron) Shriver of Woodbury, Karen (Al) Peterson of Marshall, and Darla (Curt) Madsen of Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her father.
