Harold V. Winkler, 101, of Scottsbluff, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at Golden Living Center in Scottsbluff. His funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at The First Church of God in Scottsbluff, with Rev. Jim Holm officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery here. Memorials in his name may be made to the First Church of God Youth Group or to the Y.M.C.A. Friends who wish may call at the Jolliffe Funeral Home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Harold was born November 26, 1910, at Bridgeport, Nebraska to Ollie J. and Lena (Martindale) Winkler. He grew up in the Bridgeport, Broadwater and Angora areas. On August 11, 1933, he married Mildred E. Holm at Harrisburg, Nebraska, and together they celebrated 75 years. Following their marriage, Harold and Mildred lived in California for a time where he worked for North American Aviation assembling airplanes to be used in World War Two. They returned to Scottsbluff, and 1954 he established Winkler Electric. He remained active in the business until his retirement.He was a longtime member of the First Church of God in Scottsbluff, was a charter member of the Scottsbluff 23 Club and was a member of Elks Lodge #1367. He was an avid sports fan and greatly enjoyed watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren compete in their sporting activities. In his retirement years, Harold enjoyed going to the coffee shop in the morning with his son Chuck , and discussing the day's events. Harold is survived by his children Jerry (Jane) Winkler of Bonita Springs, FL, Chuck (Patty) Winkler of Scottsbluff and Judi (John) Partlow of Noblesville, IN; grandchildren Jeff (Amy) Winkler of Gering, Tyler (Lorraine) Winkler of Naples, FL, Christine (Ray) Encinias of Noblesville, IN, Rick (Laurie) Winkler of Gering and Kelli Winkler of Omaha, NE. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and a sister Margie Dias of Hanford, CA
His parents, wife Mildred, sisters Ila , Evelyn and Irma and brother Don preceded him in death.
