Gary W. Kline, 67, of Iola, Kansas, died Thursday, December 22, 2011, at his home.

Gary was born November 11, 1944, at Garnett, Kansas, the son of Raymond C. and Blanche L. (Henderson) Kline.

He grew up in the Bush City, Kansas area and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1962.

He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served from 1964 to 1968 with the GEEIA mobile squadron in a number of countries.

Following his honorable discharge from the service, he made his home in southern California.

He was married to Kathleen Jordan and they had a son before they divorced.

On March 12, 1976, Gary married Marinea R. Scott in Reno, Nevada.

They have resided at Iola since 1984. He owned and operated Midstates Communication Systems in Iola, from 1987 until 2008 when he retired.

Gary enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to casinos.

He was a life member of the N.R.A., American Legion and the Osawatomie Class of 1962 Alumni Association.

Survivors include his wife, Marinea Kline of the home; four children, Greg Kline & wife, Pam of Humboldt, KS, Jeff Leavitt & wife, Sue of Topeka, KS, Kristi Leavitt of the home, and Tim Juarez of Iola, KS; his mother, Blanche Kline of Garnett, KS; one brother, Gail Kline & wife, Angela of Osawatomie, KS; and one sister, Sharon Bailey & husband, Joe of Windsor, CO; 7 grandchildren, Joe & Breanna Kline, Shaunisty Brockelsby, Renee Leavitt, Madison Leavitt, Logan Leavitt, and Jacob Leavitt; one great-grandson; and his best friend, his dog, Fergus.

He was preceded in death by his father; and a son, Michael Leavitt.

According to Gary's wishes, his body was donated to the KU Department of Anatomy for research.
