Norma Marie (Balzen) Woelfel, born February 23, 1919 in San Antonio, passed away on December 22, 2011 . Norma married George Ernest Woelfel in June of 1939 and raised three children, Margaret Evelyn (Peg) Falcone and husband Steve of Illinois, George Jr. of San Antonio, and Martha Jane (Marty) of Kentucky – all living. Norma and George sent their children to college where they entered education and social work. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Flynn and Ben Falcone, and 2 great granddaughters - all of Los Angeles. Norma and George spent their primary working years building and running their business, Griesenbeck Belt and Pulley Works, later renamed San Antonio Belting, and were successful. They were active in St. John's Lutheran Church and the camping program at Lutheran Camp Chrysalis near Kerrville, as were their children. Norma liked music and at 90 years of age played the piano for the Veterans Day Ceremony at Morningside Manor, where she resided during her last years. A short visitation will be held from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. at Roy Akers Funeral Home at 515 N. Main Avenue. Immediately afterwards, at Norma's request, there will be a simple Graveside Ceremony at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, entrance on Dakota Street off South New Braunfels three blocks south of East Commerce Street. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to St John's Lutheran Church or KLRN.
