Helen Virginia Conner Ayres, 86, of Lexington died Saturday, Oct. 6,2007.
She was born May 12, 1921, in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late John William Conner and Easter Coffey Conner. She was a member of the Lexington Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Freemont Hunter Ayers; two sons, Clifford Terreyl Ayres of Rocky Mount and Hunter E. "Chipper" Ayres of Lexington; two sisters, Anna Conner of Selma and Betty Smith of Roanoke; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Lexington Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Wilburn. Burial was in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Baptist Church. Arrangements were by Harrison Funeral Home & Crematory.
