Sylvia J. Almeyda, age 94 of Miami, entered into rest Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011. She was born in Clifton, Ariz. on Nov. 3, 1917, the daughter of Josefa (Gonzales) and Antonio Jimenez.
Sylvia was a member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament and was in the choir, apostleship of prayer and CCD classes at the church. She was also on the Memorial Committee with the Bullion Plaza. After retirement from nursing in California she contributed to the newspaper with her history knowledge in many articles.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Almeyda, and two brothers, Flavio Jimenez and Frank G. Jimenez.
Sylvia leaves behind in loving memory two brothers, Thomas "Tom" Hernandez of San Tan Valley, Ariz. and Trinidad Hernandez, Jr. of Miami, Ariz.; two sisters, Angelita G. Jimenez of Miami, Ariz. and Alice Taylor of Gilbert, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament, 844 W Sullivan St., Miami, Ariz.
Rosary will follow at 9:30 a.m. with Mass beginning at 10 a.m.
Interment will be at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens in Miami, Ariz.
Funeral arrangements for Sylvia J. Almeyda were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Miami.
