Henry Abbott was the first one in Boothbay by the name of Abbott. He settled midway up on the western side of Barter’s Island, around 1785.
Henry served in the Rev. War as a private in Col. Hitchcock’s R.I. Regiment. He was also in the Continental Army and MA line. His younger brothers John Abbott (1758-1825) and James Abbott (1760-1837) also served in the Revolutionary War.
His first wife was Keziah White, and they had five children all born in Boothbay between 1786 and 1796:
