He was born in Tunkhannock, Pa., and had been a resident of Topeka for fifty years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Avery; two daughters, Mrs. C.A. Ritchie and Mrs. C.G. James of Topeka; and a son, John D. Avery, Escondido, Calif.
