He was a electrical technician, a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge #551, member of the Scottish Rite-Memphis and a Al Chymia Shrine Temple, and attended Illinois State Normal University and Illinois of Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Mattie Amanda Penick Clarke.
