Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:30 PM on Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in St. Cloud, for Deacon John Woods, 71, of St. Cloud. John died peacefully at his home, due to complications of rheumatoid arthritis, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday November 7, 2008. The Most Reverend John F. Kinney and the Reverend Alan Wielinski will concelebrate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00-9:00 PM on Sunday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and after 11:00 AM on Monday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
John was born in St. Cloud on August 24, 1937 to Alvin and Florence (Bastien) Woods. John married Judy Sjogren on December 28, 1963 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Waite Park. He worked at the St. Cloud Hospital in the Radiology/Cardiac Cath lab for 35 years. John was ordained a Deacon in 1996 and served at St. Peter's parish. He was a member of the Crosier Apostolate. He enjoyed vacations at the lake, his family, and his work with the hospital and the church.
John is survived by: his wife; children: Brian (Melissa), Andrea (Jerry) Ranta, Tony (Stacie), Shannon (Mark) McDonnell, Erin (Paul) Secord, Meaghan (Scott) Baynes, Don (Jaime), Chaely (Jim) Kvidera, Ian (Christal), Kyna (Greg Reiter), Nicholas, Jonathon (Kelly); 29 grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Marilynn (Gene) Borgert, Nita (Mike) O'Connor, Marjorie (Warren) Bystedt, Judy (Don) Byram, Sue (Dave) Fritz, Michael (Jeanne) Woods, Sharon (Bob) Bemboom, Patrick Woods, Nancy (Ed) Johnson, Laurie (Maury) Bloom, Malia (Grant) Golberg,
