Chesterine T. Sackett, age 79, passed away on September 7, 2002 after a yearlong fight with cancer and recent stroke.
Chesterine was born on July 20, 1923 in Milwaukee, WI, one of five children. Chesterine worked for the Federal Government for over 30 years.
Chesterine was a devoted Catholic and member of the Church of the Risen Savior in Albuquerque where she was a resident for 30 years.
Chesterine is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James D. Sackett Jr., three children survive her, Patricia Mankins and her husband, Mark of Bosque Farms, Michael Sackett and his wife, Valerie of Albuquerque and Kathleen DeShazo and her husband, Mark also of Albuquerque, ten grandchildren, David James Mankins, Jennifer Lee Chávez and her husband, Isaac, Rebecca Sue Mankins, Brandon James Sackett of Dallas, TX, step-granddaughters, Whitney Lynne Waters of Albuquerque Brandi Delynn DeShazo, Jacquelyn Marie DeShazo of Stella, MO, Christopher Joseph Thomas of Las Vegas, NV, Stephen Daniel DeShazo and Jake Matthew DeShazo of Albuquerque.
Chesterine was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. Chesterine touched many lives in her years with us and will be missed by all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Risen Savior on Thursday, September 12, 2002 at 6:15 p.m. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her name.
The family wishes to thank the Lovelace Hospital Staff, Lovelace Hospice, and Manor Care Heights staff for the wonderful care and support they showed during her illness.
