Mary "Elva" Rice Chambers, 87, formerly of North Little Rock, died Saturday, July 29 at Salem Place Nursing Home in Conway.
She had been a secretary for the North Little Rock School District and a member of Rose City Calvary Baptist Church. She was a past president of the Rose City Elementary School P.T.A., North Little Rock P.T.A. Council nd the North Little Rock City Beautiful Commission. She was also a past member of the Pulaski County Mental Health Board and a life member of the state P.T.A.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Earl Rice, and her second husband, Tommy Chambers.
Survivors include two sons, Rodney Rice of Conway and his wife Pat, and Herschel Rice of Shreveport, La., and his wife Doris; a brother, Aniel House of North Little Rock; a stepson, Dean Chambers of Jacksonville, Fla., and his wife Lona; a stepdaughter, Mary Dycus of Columbus, Ga.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 1 at North Little Rock Funeral Home chapel with burial in Edgewood Memorial Gardens.
