LaVerne Shirley Leithead, 62, died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at her home in Eagar. She was born Feb. 6, 1949, in Indian Wells to John Thomas and Helen Dee Franklin Thomas.
LaVerne was a homemaker and accomplished at doing upholstery work, a talented bead worker and very crafty with anything. She was a great wife, great mother, great grandmother and loved her grandchildren. LaVerne was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was a beautiful person inside and out. She will be dearly missed.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, Marvin Leithead of Eagar; sons: Van (Vee) Leithead of Taylor; Alma T. (Josephine) Leithead of Eagar; daughters: Arlene J. (Richard) Dana, Sheryl (Tim) Cluff, Joanie Leithead; brothers: Benny L. Thomas of Indian Wells; Amos Thomas, Show Low; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three granddaughters, brothers, sisters, parents, and grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow services at the Springerville Cemetery.
