Lewis Richard Barton Sr., 87, of Beclabito, passed from this life on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, in Farmington. He was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Beclabito.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Fannie Barton; his late wife, Julia Barton; daughter, Johanna Harris; son, Lewis Barton Jr.; sisters, Julia Benally-Begay, Fern Atcitty, Virginia Buck, Sally Lee, Lula Nez and Helen Begay; and brothers, Edward Barton, Hoskie Barton and Vernon Barton.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Barton; daughters, Shirley Garcia, Treina Nez, Thelma Nez, and Delphine (Luis) Alarcon; sons, Eugene (Rose) Barton, Ron (Lou) Barton, Norman (Venetia) Barton, Rick Barton and Douglas Nez; brother, Frank John; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 15, at Desert View Funeral Home of Shiprock, North U.S. Hwy. 491 in Shiprock.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Shiprock. Pastor Edison Barton Sr. will officiate.
Interment will follow at the family plot in Beclabito.
Pallbearers are Adrian Garcia, Kyle Barton, Marvin Francisco, Norman Barton, Richard Barton and Roderick Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are the children, grandchildren and Alice Barton.
