ELDON - James "Jimmy" Robert Boyd, 65, of 414 Des Moines St. died at 11:55 am December 11, 2011 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.

Jimmy was born May 31, 1946 in La Plata, MO to Scott and Goldie Bowen Boyd. He married Marilyn in 2002. Jimmy lived a good portion of his adult life in Ottumwa. He worked at Excel in Ottumwa. He moved to many places, and lived in Marshalltown, Mason City, Tulsa, OK and Grapevinne, TX, but no matter where he moved to, Jimmy always wanted to come home. He came back to Eldon to live out his final years.

Jimmy was known for his great cooking, he loved to have a contest to see who made better ribs, smoked turkeys or chicken hind quarters. He also loved to hunt. This is a passion that he shared with his son, Kris.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Marilyn; a son, Kris Boyd of Fort Worth, TX; three daughters, Theresa(Wayne)Petersen and Cher Page both of Fort Worth, TX, Raquel(Darrell)Sullivan of Croeta, OK; four grandchildren, Michael and Ashley Petersen, Brett Sullivan, Brooklyn Page; two great-grandsons, Jaxon Petersen and Bryson Fitzpatrick; a sister, Donna(Lloyd)Gould of Mason City; a brother-in-law, Bill Sewell of Kansas City, MO; several nieces and nephews; close friends, Ernie Weeks and Bobby"Duck"Howard both of Eldon, and many other friends in Eldon and Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Ann Sewell and Charliene Sissel.

His body has been cremated.

Memorial services will be 1 pm Thursday at First Pentecostal Assembly of God with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
