Mrs. Dessie Hamsher Vigus died in Macon county hospital Tuesday morning at 9:30 oclock where last Thursday she had submitted to a surgical operation for relief from appendicitis. From the effects of that she was seemingly making recovery until Tuesday morning when she suffered a relapse from which she could not rally.
Dessie Hamsher was born in Decatur, the daughter of Barney K and Cecila Hamsher, practically all of her life has been passed in this city where she attended school and was graduated from Decatur high school Soon after her graduation she was married to James B. Vigus of Paris, Texas. She resided in that city until after the death of her husband in 1907 when she returned to Decatur to make her home.
In her large circle of acquaintances Dessie Vigus was a favorite . She was blessed with keen intellect, a happy disposition and a ready wit that was the delight of her intimates. In recent years the major portion of her time has been given to companionship to her aged mother because of which she was not at liberty to a social life as formerly but she never lacked for social life for her friends knew that they would find her in her home where she had many callers. They were friends from primary school .
Mrs.Vigus was a member of the First Methodist church. She leaves her brother Harry Hamsher of E.St.Louis and her mother Mrs.Cecelia Hamsher, 738 W. William.
The body was taken to the undertaking rooms of Brintlingers funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 Thursday morning in the family home on W.William'
