The spelling of both of Nadejda Bernice's first name and middle names have varied from document to document. The nieces of Nadejda Bernice (Popov) Lowry (my cousins) are relatively certain the correct spellings were 'Nadja Bernice'. No birth certificate has been found as yet, but the name "Nadejda" appeared in her husband's obituary as well as in the Social Security Death Index. We're still looking for a birth certificate.

The website:
http://crestleaf.com/p/50ba9ed0651a69e4d49d3add/nadejda-b-lowry
shows her name as Nadejda B. Lowry.

The birth date and death dates from CrestLeaf are what I have on this site.
The blurb on that site titled "About Nadejda Lowry" adds no extra detail about her. The Crest Leaf website has her place of death as recorded, Bellingham, Washington.

The Crest Leaf website seems to confirm her first name as 'Nadejda', as it appears on the U.S. Social Security Death Index for Nadejda B Lowry. Likely Crest Leaf simply gleaned their info from the USSS Death Index about her.

Many people likely knew her as Nadia. Probably because it was just easier to pronounce, and it likely was the English equivalent.

According to a note that I received from Pam (Grantham) Nesser...

I knew Nadia (as we called her) and Professor Lowry in Bellingham. My mother (Russian) was friends with your aunt. I visited her at their apartment near Lake Whatcom around 1987. Nadia told me stories about how she had polio and wore leg braces. She met her husband as a result of him seeing her ride a bicycle to a university. She taught French beading and I may still have a French beaded butterfly that she made. She gave me glass beads but I gave them to a friend's daughter. She gave me a weaving loom which I gave away. She made felted hats.

I saw her husband who taught Logic at Whatcom Community College.

Sincerely...

Gravesite Details

We know that Nadejda's last known zip code was 98226, which is on the NE part of Bellingham. As yet we're not sure which cemetery her body was buried in, but we're still looking.
