She is survived by her husband of 62 years Roy Abundis and her children Sylvia Fuentes, Rose Vallin, and Victor Abundis. She is also survived by her sisters Guadalupe Carrisal and Victoria Musquiz. She will also be missed by her great-grandchildren Jonathan, Jared, Julia, and Jasmine De La Rosa; Asher and Lyla Jacobson; and Charlie and Alana Jimenez as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She began her healthcare career at Santa Rosa Hospital in the late 1940s assisting doctors and nurses in the operating room. She also worked at the Nix Hospital as an assistant inhalation therapist.
In addition, she also worked as a pediatric nurse's aide for Dr. Fernando Guerra and Dr. Richard Riojas.
She shared her love of music by singing in the choir at Prince of Peace Catholic Church and was also involved in the parish prayer group. She led a very active spiritual life and could always be counted on to pray for those in need.
Grandma Abundis was a strong believer in the power of prayer and even found the strength to pray in her final days.
The family would like to thank Client Choice (Tina), the staff at Westover Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, and Charles Skinner.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6th beginning at 10 a.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
