Samuel Monroe Enterline was born on 22 November 1857 in Leck Kill, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, USA to George Enterline and Elizabeth Ann (Malich) Enterline.

An attorney by trade, his son, LeRoy Enterline, followed him into the profession. LeRoy would later be appointed in December of 1931 to serve as the District Attorney for Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.

Census records for Samuel and his family indicate that another son (George) was born, but died young in 1894 (approx. age: 4). Samuel's wife is shown as "Millie" on various records of the period; she is shown as "Amelia S. Enterline" on her gravemarker.

According to the records of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ashland, Pennsylvania, Samuel M. Enterline died on 30 January 1917, and was interred at Mt. Laurel Cemetery in Pottsville. He is interred there with his wife, their son, George, and their granddaughter, Margaret, who died in July 1916. Margaret was the daughter of Samuel's son, Leroy Enterline.
