Helen Lorene Anderson, 94, went to be with the Lord at 9:57 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at her son's home with her family by her side.
She was born on August 2, 1917, in Metropolis, Ill., to Harry Alvin and Mina (Cummings) Rose.
She married Rev. Ralph William Anderson on July 2, 1938, in Paducah, Ky. He preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1993.
Helen was a homemaker most of her life and a pastor's wife. She was a member of the Bethalto United Methodist Church, where she was involved with Bible school, Ladies Aid and MYF. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking and baking.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Alvina Anderson of Bethalto and Jim and Mary Riley of Anna, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, June Rose and Agnes Rose and her nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, the Rev. Larry Anderson; two brothers, Alvin Rose and Donald Rose; and three sisters, Francis Burgess, Evelyn Smith and Lula Riley.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until services at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, at the Bethalto United Methodist Church, with Pastor John Tennyson officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Bethalto United Methodist Church.
