18th Dynasty Egyptian Vizier. He served during the reigns of Amenhotep III and Akhenaten. He was also a commander of chariots and high priest of Ptah. He and his wife, Tawosret, and his son, Huy, who was a commander of horse, and commander of chariots after his father, shared the same tomb at Saqqara. His intact tomb was discovered and excavated in the last quarter of the 20th century by the French under Alain Zivie. Aperel's existence was unknown until that time. The tomb is located in the cliffs of the Bubasteion. His name is Semitic, it cannot be assumed, however, that he was of foreign origin. His name has also been recorded as Aper-el and Aperia.
