Ruple Bridges, 23, of South Bend, Ind., an employee of the Ball Band Rubber Company and formerly of Golden, was killed instantly in a fall on Feb. 11, 1948. He was working in the rubber company's boiler room at the time of his death. Mr. Bridges and his wife, the former Miss Fay Wilson of Itawamba County, had been living in South Bend for only eight months. Funeral services were held Feb. 15 at Mt. Gilead with burial in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Senter Funeral Home was in charge. Because of the weather conditions another service was held at Golden before going to Mt. Gilead.

Survivors in addition to his wife, were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver G. Bridges of Golden; two sisters, Miss Opal Bridges of Golden and Mrs. Aubon Skelton of Red Bay, Ala.; five brothers, Olan Bridges of Tremont, Dee Bridges of Mantachie, Lee Bridges of the U.S. Army, and Erastus Bridges of the U.S. Navy.
