Madison Courier--April 27, 1970

Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Rivers Backus, 73, route two Bedford, Ky., were held at 2 p.m. today at the Hopewell Methodist Church, with burial in the Bedford IOOF Cemetery.

Mrs. Backus, a native of Carroll County, Ky., died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the King's Daughters Hospital in Madison.

She was a member of the Missionary Society of the Hopewell Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Elmo Sherman Backus, Bedford, Ky.; and James Earl, Claremont, Ind.; three daughters: Mrs. Hilda Hill, Greenwood; Mrs. Norma Thompson, Carrollton; and Mrs. Ailene Maxwell, Albany, Ky.; three brothers: Frank Pullium, Detroit; Clarence Pullium, Clarion, Pa.; and Leonard Pullium, Louisville; two sisters: Mrs. Mary Tingle, Columbia, Ohio; and Mrs. Ruby Cowl, Louisville; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The Ransdell Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
