Grace moved to the Stanton rural area as a young girl. She graduated from Sheridan High School in 1942 and later worked at the Sheridan Hospital. In 1960 she moved to her home on the Muskegon River near Big Rapids. Grace owned and operated a fruit market in Rogers Heights and a service station/general store in Stanwood. She was employed by Denham Manufacturing in Big Rapids and Rem Die Cast in Grand Rapids. She also enjoyed the work she did for the Mecosta County Commission on Aging. Grace was a member of V.F.W. Post #5065 Ladies Auxiliary of Sheridan and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Big Rapids.
Grace was a good mother and grandmother and will be missed by her beloved family. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Thomas) Garnett of Midland; three sons, Thomas (Sandi) Willmore of Stanwood, Joseph (Sandy) Willmore of Sheridan, Michael Willmore of Big Rapids; step-daughter, Micaela (Lonnie) Rorick of Canadian Lakes; step-son, Ken (Noreen) Nichols of Greenville; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Grace was preceded in death by a son Fred Willmore, infant son, John Willmore; half sister, Mabel Hoy and half brother, Fred Jenks.
Funeral services will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 8th at the Daggett-Gilbert Funeral Home in Big Rapids with Father David Gross officiating. The family will greet friends on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery south of Sheridan.
