Ruth M. Bowers, 78, concluded a lifetime commitment to faith and family when she succumbed to cancer on Sunday, June 28, 2009.
In her final days she was surrounded by the loving presence of her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Ruth was born on Jan. 10, 1931, in Green Bay, to the late Leonard and Marian Crooks.
Much of her youth was spent in Oconto where she attended St. Peter's School. The family later moved to Green Bay, and Ruth attended St. Joseph Academy, graduating in 1948.
On June 17, 1950, she married Clifford C. Bowers at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Green Bay.
Ruth and Cliff are 40-year members of St. Jude Catholic Parish in Green Bay where Ruth was a member of the Women's Club. She also volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul. Over the years she worked in the office at what was then Northern Paper Company and later at Gold Bond Ice Cream for many years. The couple was devoted to following the sports activities, musical performances and other special events of their children and grandchildren. Family gatherings of any sort were cherished occasions.
