James Alexander passed away at his home in Patton, McLennan county, near Valley Mills, Sunday afternoon, after a long illness.

He came from Tennessee years ago, after marrying Mary Etta Alford there on May 4, 1876, and moved to Coryell Co.

At an early age he joined the Baptist church at Osage, TX. He was a kind husband and a good daddy.

He leaves 9 children; Mrs. L.D. Shrader (Eliza Jane), Tom Alexander, Mrs. Geo. Cole (Mattie Eliz), Mrs. Bertha Jo Alsup, Mrs. Claude Jaynes (Willie Mae), Mrs. Carl Simpson, G.S. Alexander, E.A. Alexander, & A.G. Alexander.

Services were held at the Baptist Church at Patton.
