Born July 15, 1930, in Dwight, Ill., Marilyn was the daughter of Denny and Geneva Christensen. She attended Dwight schools.
Marilyn married Robert A. Gallup on March 20, 1949, at the Methodist Church in Dwight. They lived all of their married life in rural Verona.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Bob; her six children, Susan Aldrich of Mims, Fla., George (Donna) Gallup of Verona, Mick (Karyn) Gallup of Bonfield, Ill., Chris (Dan) Stapleton of Verona, Coral (Vince) Bleifield of Verona, Jeff (Theresa) Gallup of Braceville; two step-children, Sharon (George) Laswell and Randy (Chuck Arthur) Mariotte; 15 grandchildren, Wendy (Thomas) Wilson, Robert Aldrich, Beth Leary, Paul, Kylie, Courtney and Jared Gallup, Jessica, Stephen (Jessica) and Lindsay Bleifield, Tiffany Wildy, Dan and Tasha Stapleton, Becky and Ross Carman; eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Sally (Bill) Wollgast and Shelby Zucchi; two brothers, Dan (P.J.) Christensen and Chuck (Betty) Christensen; and three sisters-in-law: Barb, Sandy and Joan Christensen.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Chris, Jim, Bill (Cuz) and John Christensen.
Visitation is tentatively planned to be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2011, at First Christian Church in Morris with a memorial service immediately following. Rev. Charles Richardson will officiate
In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials may be directed to the Morris Hospital Transportation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
