Her beloved husband, Leo, to whom she was married for 43 years, preceded her in death.
Josephine was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and spent decades as a teacher for parochial schools, always dedicated to her students, and as a member of various Catholic organizations. Although Josephine had no children, she was a devoted aunt to her many nieces and nephews. Josephine is survived by her special nephew, Michael Padilla and his wife, Peggy of Bosque Farms and their six children who cared for her in her last years, sister, Marie Cecilia Padilla and her husband, Ray of Las Vegas, brother, Felix Valdéz and his wife, Elna of Edmonds, WA, aunt, Carmen Fernández of Santa Fé, nephew, Robert Padilla and his wife, Leora and children of Albuquerque, grandniece, Pamela Rodríguez and daughter, Daniella of Monterey, CA, nephew, Jerry Padilla and his wife, Linda and children of Albuquerque, niece, Patricia Skrinar and her husband, Tom and children of Tacoma, WA, niece, Marie Villanueva and her husband, Joe and children of Albuquerque, niece, Charlene Maestas and her husband, Fred and children of Santa Rosa, niece, Margaret Ann Bailey and her husband, Robert and children of Kemp, TX, nephews, Tom, Fred and niece, Bella Enebeckler of California.
A Funeral Mass was held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery and Mausoleum Chapel in Albuquerque on April 19, 2000 the Reverend Father Albert Gallegos officiating. Internment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
