Gwendolyn "Wendy" Kay Long of McAlester, OK died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in McAlester, OK at the age of 49.
Wendy was born October 25, 1962 in Hugo, OK to John and Kay (Cunningham) Baggerley. She grew up in McAlester and graduated from McAlester High School with the Class of 1980. She attended East Central University earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting. She worked at the Big 5 Community Services where she provided assistance to an autistic child. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandson, Gabe, great niece, Jada, and her many dear friends.
She is survived by son, Joe Long of McAlester; grandson, Gabriel Long of McAlester; father, John Baggerley of Paris, TX; brothers, Johnny Rivas III and wife, Pam of McAlester and Bret Rivas and wife, Pattye of McAlester; nieces and nephews, Johnny Rivas, IV and wife, Brittany of McAlester, Shane Rivas and wife, Melissa of Noble, Mark Henry Rivas of McAlester, Amber Edwards and husband, Cory of McAlester, Steven Amos and wife, Alecia of McAlester and Cassie Grilliot of husband, Clark of Piedmont; special friends, Melita Bennett Homer of McAlester, Golda Smith of Crowder, B.J. Long of McAlester and Raymond Wixom of Houston, TX; and numerous great nieces, great nephews, many aunts, uncles and other family and friends.
Wendy was preceded in death by her mother, Kay Smith and maternal and paternal grandparents.
The family will greet friends 6-8 Sunday, December 5, 2011 at Chaney Harkins Funeral Home.
The Funeral Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 5, 2011 at Chaney's Memorial Chapel, McAlester, OK with Mr. Kevin Kasparek officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Church Cemetery, McAlester, OK.
Pallbearers will be Shane Rivas, Johnny Rivas IV, Cory Edwards, Clark Grilliot, Steven Amos and B.J. "Bunny" Long.
