ETHEL PHILLIPS, BENTON, DIES
Mrs. Ethel Phillips, 66, 408 E. Washington St., Benton, died at 7:05 a.m. today in Franklin Hospital, Benton. She had been ill one week. Mrs. Phillips is the wife of recently elected City Commissioner James Phillips. She was born in Franklin County, the daughter of Frank and Ellen Smith Alexander. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Benton. She is survived by her husband, stepdaughters, Mrs. Karen Hedges of West Frankfort and Mrs. Jane Younkin of Danville, Calif., and a sister, Mrs. Della Payne of rural Ewing. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Christian Church, Benton. The Rev. Jesse Dunn will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery, Benton. Friends may call at the Mitchell Funeral Home, Benton, after 4 p.m. Wednesday.
