Father and son on same T/S - Son 10/3/1924-9/19/1976
A LOVE STORY : When he was still living at home with his Mother Rose in Salyersville in Magoffin County, Kentucky he got a job on the railroad. He traveled heading southeast most days. There was a stop on the way into Floyd County at the Railroad Station called Bosco. Just so happened that Morgan & Susan Huff Patton with two of their daughters (Vennie & Vernie) had tables set up next to the Bosco station with food prepared for the workers and travelers on the railroad. That is where my Maternal Grandparents (Jim & Vennie) met, and a Romance came about! JOBS: Jim could do anything with home construction & remodeling. He was what they call today (a house flipper). He bought homes and would remodel and then turn around and sell. Some he rented out. He was a craftsman woodworker too. He would often tear out old cabinets and build all new ones. He once bought a hundred year old house in his 80s and totally remodeled the inside. He worked in the gas and oil fields also. His all time favorite job though was when he was a young man and worked on the railroad! I remember being a young child sitting at a local train station with him, and watching the trains come in. He taught me a lot about the trains. He always glowed when he talked about those days!!!
