He was born on Monday, August 09, 1948, in Highland, IL, the son of Leroy V. and Marian H. (nee Wildhaber) Ammann.
He was a member of Saint Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL.
He was also a member of Knights of Columbus, Council #1580 - Highland, IL; Highland Speedway Association; Belle-Clair Speedway Association; Madison County Fair Association; Helvetia Sharpshooters Association.
Dennis was born in Highland; grew up on the family farm. He attended St. Paul School and Highland School and graduated in 1967. Dennis helped on the family farm for many years. After his father's death he and his mother moved to Highland. He worked for Townsend's Restaurant at St. Jacob. He worked for F & J Disposal; Ralph Etheridge Sports Store. He worked as a School Crossing Guard at St. Paul and Highland Lindenthal Campus Schools. He worked for the Highland News Leader as a Statistician. He worked at Highland Speedway taking care of gate #3 for many years. He was a volunteer for the Madison County Fair Association. He delivered posters for the St. Paul Kirchenfest. He was an avid sports fan, never missing a Highland's sports team event and attended many Triad school sports events. For many years, he held season tickets for St. Louis Cardinals. Dennis played the tambourine with Jim Miller Band, Buffalo Road Band and Chapman Brothers Band.
