Obituary. Published in The Daily Inquirer, Gonzales, Texas, Monday, August 5, 1974, page 1. Services Set Wednesday For Mrs. Bailey.

Services will be held Wednesday for Mrs. Maudie Bailey, age 79, at the Seydler Hill Chapel at 10 a.m. Mrs. Bailey died Saturday in a local nursing home. The Rev. George Schultz will officiate and interment will be in the Leesville Cemetery.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Joe Richter of San Antonio; Mrs. Ben Richter of Gonzales and Mrs. Jim Kohli of Lima. Ohio; five sons, Boyd Bailey of Bebe, Cecil and Hulan Bailey of Gonzales; Winston Bailey of Seguin and Durwood Bailey of Dallas and three brothers, Edwin and Alvie Mahan of San Antonio and Levi Mahan of, Pleasanton. One daughter, Elsie Marie Bailey and one son, Lester Aubrey Bailey (killed in action in Italy during WWII) preceded her in death.

Mrs. Bailey was born December 3, 1894, in Leesville, the daughter of Robert L. Mahan and Mary Humphries Mahan. She was married to Ernest Manning Bailey on Oct. 18, 1914, and he died Feb. 14, 1948. She was a member of the Leesville Methodist Church.
