Death of Ebenezer Baker
Ebenezer Baker , aged 84, and old and respected resident of Willimantic Conn.died at his home Monday afternoon of last week,following a hemorrhage of the stomach,which occurred Jan 25 .He was born in Dennis Dec 13, 1830.During his early life he followed the sea,but has been known to have been employed in the spool finishing department of the local thread plant as early as 1860.He was employed in this capacity almost continuously up to his retirement from active duty seven years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Orders,Eastern Star Lodge, No 44, A F and A M,the Trinity Chapter , No 9 R A M, and Olive Branch council No 10 R & S M.He is survived by three daughters,Mrs John Tuckerman of Moosup,Miss Minnie Baker of Providence,and Laura Baker of Willimantic, with whom he made his home.He also leaves a daughter-in-law Mrs Arthur Baker.Four grand children also survive,two of whom live in Moosup.
The funeral was held at the home in Willimantic Wednesday afternoon, the Rev W O Nuzam of the Methodist Church officiating.The remains were brought here for interment.
Mr Baker married Marion Snow of this place,and lived here for some time.After moving from here,he with his family spent many vacations here, and last Summer was here for several weeks.
