Mrs. Georgia Edith Cockrell was born April 25, 1898 in Highland County, Ohio to John E. and Estella Kate Lewis. She passed from this life Friday, October 30 at the Sayre Hospital at 83 years of age.
She moved to Durham in 1900 with her parents and attended school at Sunny Slope. In 1916, she and Dennis Cockrell were married in Cheyenne and made their home in Durham. Mrs. Cockrell went to Colorado in 1977 to make her home with a daughter. She returned to Durham in 1980 and resided there until her death. She was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church and a homemaker.
Mrs. Cockrell was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandson, 2 great grandsons, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Her survivors include 2 daughters, Leola Earle of Durham and Lorene Gabbart of Amarillo, Texas; 2 sisters, Dora Timmons of Mangum, and Lucille Lenk of Oklahoma City; 2 brothers, Albert Lewis of Durham and Carl Lewis of Oklahoma City; 4 grandsons and 10 great grandchildren.
Graveside Services were held Monday, november 2, 1981 at 10:30 a.m. with interment following in the Fairview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, OK with A.L. Martin of Crawford officiating. Rose Chapel Funeral Serv ices of Cheyenne was in charge of arrangements.
