Joanne "JoJo" Anderson, 80, of Freeport, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, surrounded by her loving family at Good Samaritan Hospice Unit at Concordia, Cabot. She was born April 19, 1931, in Freeport, the daughter of the late Joseph and Estella Milligan. She married Charles Everett Anderson in 1952. JoJo was a graduate of Freeport Area High School class of 1949 and Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing class of 1952. She worked most of her career at Allegheny Valley Hospital holding various positions for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Freeport United Methodist Church. JoJo enjoyed people and conversation. She loved her grandchildren and all of her "extended families." She made friends wherever she went in her working and private life and never knew a person she couldn't talk to. JoJo loved to travel to her favorite destination of Las Vegas. She enjoyed participating in many social groups and various lunch groups with her classmates, former work associates and her many friends. She is survived by her two daughters, Judy (John) Graff, of Stevensville, Md., and Jody (Pete) Dobransky, of Freeport; and her three beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Natasha and Connor Dobransky, of Freeport. She also is survived by the embracing family that took care of her and watched over her: her sister-in-law, Joyce Borland, of Fawn Township, and Joyce's two children, Jim Borland and Jackie Matjasko; and her brother-in-law, Clarence Anderson and his wife, Gail, of Saxonburg, and their two sons, Greg and Brett Anderson. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Everett Anderson, who passed away in 1972; her sister, Eleanor (Leonard) Graham; brother-in-law, James Borland; and her dear in-laws, Zelvin and Loella Anderson. Her family would like to thank all of her friends that helped make her life complete and full of happiness. Family and friends are being received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Freeport United Methodist Church in Freeport with the Rev. Edd Myers officiating. Burial will follow at Freeport Cemetery, Freeport.
