Stephen “Steve” William Edmisten, 56, of Gardner, KS, passed away November 5, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospital, KCMO, after complications from a 1999 heart transplant. Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, November 11, 2011 at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner, KS 913-856-7111 with burial at Gardner Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to the St. Luke’s Foundation for heart transplants, 4225 Baltimore Ave., KCMO, 64111. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com
Steve was born June 22, 1955 in Billings, MT to Neil and JoAnne Elizabeth (Edwards) Edmisten. He grew up in Littleton, CO and graduated from Arapaho High School. As a teen he loved horses and showed them with his sister. He moved to Gardner eleven years ago from Overland Park. Steve married Rebecca Kay Grooters on May 26, 2004 in Olathe after an 18 year engagement. Steve was a stay-at-home Dad who lived for his kids activities. He coached soccer in Overland Park. He enjoyed reading and was an avid “Denver Bronco’s Fan”.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son Neil Edmisten. Steve is survived by his wife Rebecca of the home; children Nichole Edmisten of Philadelphia, PA, Stephen Edmisten of Little Rock, AR, Joshua Grooters of Boulder, CO, Jordan Edmisten and Madison Edmisten both of Gardner; and siblings Susan Warf of Doyline, LA, Danny Edmisten and Phillip Edmisten both of Highlands Ranch, CO.
