Marie Luciana Gongora passed away on April 7, 2003.
Marie was born on April 19, 1930 in Logan, NM.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers and two sisters.
Marie is survived by her husband of 53 years, Hector Gongora, daughters, Carol Lauer and her husband, Steve, Elizabeth Schlessinger, son, Steve Gongora and his wife, Rita, grandchildren, Christopher and Mathew Lauer, Jacob and Jaqueline Schlessinger, Emily and Bernadette Gongora, brother, Gilbert Fuentes and his wife, Floy, sister, Eva Hazen and her husband, Robin, sister-in-law, Belia Peterson and her husband, Bob and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was a very supportive wife throughout Hector's military career. They lived in France, Germany and several United States bases and made many friends wherever they settled.
Marie was an officer's wife and an elegant hostess. Her faith was her strength. It carried through many hardships. Even with her many illnesses, her strong spirit sustained her. She was an inspiration for everyone she encountered. Marie always had a smile on her face, no matter what. Her family was the centerpiece of her life.
Marie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her sweet smile will be missed by all who knew her. Marie is an angel looking down on the people she loved.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2003 in the chapel of Fitzgerald & Son Funeral Directors, Albuquerque, NM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Church of Risen Savior, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM with Father McGowan, Celebrant. Private interment will occur at a later date at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Albuquerque, NM.
