BIG STONE GAP, Va. — Phyllis Lynn Massingill Dalton, 63, passed away at the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn., Wednesday (Jan. 16, 2008).
Phyllis was a lifelong resident of the area and of the Pentecostal faith, attending the Christian Life Church, Big Stone Gap, Va. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert L. and Edna Massengill; two brothers, Howard Massengill and Darrell Reed Massengill; one sister, Opal Baker; and two infants.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Donald Dalton, of the home; three sons, Barry Dalton and wife, Victoria, Glen Allen, Va., Richard Todd Dalton, of the home, Christopher Dalton and wife, Maggie, Big Stone Gap, Va.; six grandchildren, Kasey Dalton, Nicholas Dalton, Jared Dalton, Keely Dalton, Nicholas and Alexandra Morrisette. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margaret Massengill of Tifton, Ga.; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap, Va.
Funeral services will be at the Christian Life Church, Big Stone Gap at 2 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Mike Dalton, the Rev. James Holcomb and the Rev. Kyle Beverly officiating.
Pallbearers will be sons, Barry, Todd and Chris, nephews, Brian Massengill, Doug Massengill, David Chambers.
Honorary pallbearers will be other nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Christian Life Church, P.O. Box 743, Big Stone Gap, Va.
Entombment will follow in Glencoe Mausoleum, Big Stone Gap, Va.
